How is Elon Musk’s ‘Hyperloop’ project developing! For those of you who are unaware, we featured it a few months back. Elon Musk, founder of companies such as TESLA motors and SpaceX has been working on this transportation concept since 2013. The entrepreneur intends to link San Francisco and Los Angeles with a new modern transit system. The scheme is set to cover a 400-mile route between the two cities in 30 minutes, offering an alternative transportation mode quicker and cheaper than existing road, rail and air travel.

Currently a full-sized prototype of the system is being constructed to test passengers transportation. The prototype will be built in California. It will cover a five-mile stretch and take approximately two and a half years to construct. Passengers will be propelled via magnets and vacuums within elevated tubes, however, only empty capsules will currently be tested at the intended high-speeds (close to the speed of sound at 760 mph).

The system is not just for the United States, other countries (currently lacking infrastructure) are also in their discussion phases. The eventual system will all be powered by renewable energy, with any additional solar, wind and kinetic power sold back to the national grid to create additional profitability. We await further development as we believe this is a game-changer! Check it out for yourselves on the vid above:
