The UK’s first family-sized solar-powered car has been created by Solar Team Great Britain (STGB) via Kickstarter support. At the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge later this year in Australia, they intend to build the world’s fastest solar-powered car. Spanning between Darwin and Adelaide, the Australian course is indeed tough.
STGB is aiming to raise $25,000 via Kickstarter, helping them to cover partial costs (approximately 5%) for the vehicle’s complex construction. A group of dedicated sponsors are generating the additional money needed.
The Kickstarter campaign is intended more to raise awareness of energy issues to a global public than financial support. Such exposure should definitely help raise awareness of both the race and the need for more efficient and clean transportation. Good luck to them all!var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
