New types of space-suits acting as ‘second-skins’ are being developed. They use advanced materials and supportive patterning to exert the necessary pressure on the skin especially at knees, elbows, and finger joints.
Additional sensors are also being added with closer-fitting helmets that give astronauts the ability look over their shoulders.
With increased ability comes increased performance, savings in energy and greater productivity.
When all these elements are combined, astronauts will be able to do more with fewer resources leading to ever-more extreme exploration assignments. How far can we can? Watch this space!
