NASA TRAIN TECH

Trains completely lag behind in the green tech race! They haven’t exactly won any awards lately for their eco-friendliness; but hold on…things are about to change! Enter the Vittori Lab who have created (in a mixed collaboration) the AirTrain.

This transportation vehicle employs NASA technology to improve air quality in train bogies. It does so by using plants with the capacity to absorb carbon-dioxide and in turn release oxygen. But isn’t that what plants do?

It is indeed! However, through NASA technology their capacity for this has been increased. Now the AirTrain’s greenery soaks up CO2 in a more efficient manner than a normal plant can. The train has a transparent shell (allowing light to easily enter) and plants are kept perfectly hydrated via a watering system that recognizes when they need water and the exact quantity necessary.
