Were in the USA! Here, Gotham Greens is helping plenty of New Yorkers stay healthy and trim via locally grown vegetables. However you’ll have to look towards the skyline if you want to catch a glimpse of them. Their new rooftop farm in Hollis, Queens is a 60,000-square-foot greenhouse. Pesticide-free produce is in production 24/7/365!
The farm itself can be found on the rooftop of a four-story building in Jamaica Avenue. Over the course of a year, this building will produce around 5 million heads of pesticide-free leafy greens for sale at local markets. It delivers them using energy-efficient cutting-edge technology all of which is automated by renewable energy. As one of New York City’s most innovative and sustainable companies, Gotham Greens‘ activities are not going unnoticed (which is set to further inspire others towards this type of farming). Gotham Greens can thus deliver thoroughly healthy foods, to local clientele, all year round, and remain totally unaffected by bad weather, drought or pests. Future thinking indeed!
