Boeing has released avante-garde designs for a next-generation space capsule. The designs are a projection of future ‘Commercial Space travel’. Alongside its astronauts in space, Boeing is now aiming to place 1% of civilians. Therefore, space-cabins are now being designed to be energy-efficient and take on a first-class traveling experience.
Advanced design features will soon include coloured LED lighting systems (emitting blue light similar to the surrounding daytime sky) helping to avoid cabin fever. Then, whilst in transit, passengers will also be able to keep in constant touch with the Earth’s surface through on-board Wi-Fi and finally, individual storage pods will be available for personal belongings.
In a recent press statement, the director for Boeing’s Commercial Crew Program Chris Ferguson stated “…we are moving into a truly commercial space market and we have to consider our potential customers and what they may need in a future commercial spacecraft interior…”. The future definitely looks bright!
