The Seasteading Institute has been trying to crystalize their future vision – where communities able to withstand rising sea-levels – for some time now. They have been collaborating with the company DeltaSync to build a prototypical city version in the Netherlands. Having reached this agreement we may all soon be seeing a 1:1 city construction in the South Pacific around 2019.
Situated in the Pacific Islands, the site is appropriate due to its sheltered waters. It will eventually see around a hundred thousand tenants. As global sea-levels rise, the idea of climate refugees is visible on the horizon. The creation of floating islands could allow a nation’s people to maintain sovereignty rather than flee to neighbouring countries. Forewarned is forearmed! Check out the vid for further details!
