Bangkok-based Architectkidd have designed a façade in Soi Ratchada merging Thai traditional metalwork techniques and digital design strategies. They have created a porous diamond-paneled envelope for air and light to filter in through. The ‘public-building’ is home to diverse programs and public activities.
This outstanding façade – with its gradient of transparency – provides a porous layer of triangulated, steel slivers. The façade supports natural ventilation whilst creating a dance of daylight on the interior. Its metallic surface has punched steels apertures that influence what occurs behind it by delicately distributing differing levels of light. In this way, cooling loads are minimized and the façade offers a truly sustainable dimension!
